SiVa Home Care Story

SiVa Home Care was established by siblings Asi, Prince, and Lia on October 1st, 2014 in Oakland, California. Our primary focus is to provide non-medical home care services to the senior community in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. For us, caregiving for the elderly is not just a profession, but a way of life as the owners of SiVa. With a collective experience of over 25 years in this field, you can rely on our family team to treat and honor your loved ones as if they were our own. Our genuine love for what we do enables us to serve from the heart, rather than merely fulfilling a job title.

The name SiVa pays homage to our parents, as “Si” represents the first two letters of our mother’s name (Silua), and “Va” means the first two letters of our father’s name (Vai). They immigrated from the beautiful Island nation of American Samoa in late 2000 with three children in search of a better life. After settling into a temporary home, our family was fortunate to secure our first job in America as full-time private live-in caregivers for an elderly couple, Mary and Robert Schulte, of San Carlos, California. Seven years later, after Mary and Bob passed away, our parents continued their careers in the elderly care industry, working for various home care agencies. They worked tirelessly to put their two oldest children (Asi & Prince) through college and eventually graduated with their degrees in Business Administration (Prince-BA) and Medical Assisting (Asi-AA). Our combined skill sets have paved the way for us to honor our parents by establishing our own non-medical home care agency, SiVa Home Care.

The dove depicted in our logo is a symbol of our Christian faith. It is reminiscent of the biblical account of Noah’s ark, where a dove returned with a single olive branch, signaling the arrival of peace and deliverance. This peaceful and serene image represents a fresh beginning, a new creation, and renewed hope. At SiVa Home Care, we aspire to be an extension of this symbol of peace, providing a safe and comforting environment for your loved ones.

To this day, our parents remain the face of our company, embodying the key elements that set us apart: hard work, honesty, loyalty, love, and genuine care for others. These values are deeply ingrained in the foundation of our home. Interestingly, “SiVa” means “DANCE” in Samoan, and this name holds significant power as it pays tribute not only to our parents but also to our homeland, never allowing us to forget our upbringing.

The lyrics to famous song “I Hope You Dance” holds significant meaning for our family and our business, and we are sure it will resonate with our elderly families as well. In fact, we plan to incorporate the lyrics of this song, “I hope you Dance / SiVa!” as a daily affirmation for our residents somewhere in our homes. When the term Dance or Dancing is mentioned, it emanates a positive atmosphere, a melody of happiness and enthusiasm, and we aspire for all our customers to relish their time with us and persistently embrace the rhythm of life instead of merely observing it.

In 2019, we made the decision to relocate our parents to Texas for their retirement. However, they declined our offer and insisted that they were still actively “dancing”. As a result, we expanded our SiVa Home Care services to the beautiful state of Texas. We now operate a Residential Care Home in San Antonio, where our parents will continue to provide exceptional care to senior citizens.
